Day 12 – Farewell friends

Though it’s the last day of the Green Leaders Journey, it will certainly not be the last day of my journey. With a successful festival (bringing in over 10kg of garbage) and inspired by 2 compassionate facilitators (Scotty & Emily), I plan on taking these tools that I’ve learnt home.

As a start, I will change the way 2 neighborhood supermarkets make customers take their goods home.

We’ve trekked through sand and through jungles, over mountains and under rocks. Man, I’m gonna miss it all:

I am a Green Leader.

I will make a difference.

We shall meet again!

Well I am sad to say this is the last day of our amazing Green Leaders Journey.

This past two weeks really has been a great balance of Service Learning, Leadership and Adventure with all the young leaders stepping out of their comfort zones and growing enormously.

Emily and I could not be happier with the way this journey has gone. Each and every one of these young adults brought an amazing energy and truly gave 100%.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of these Green Leaders, and especially their parents who gave them this opportunity of a lifetime!

We are moments away from our closing ceremony now and the final wrap up of this powerful journey. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you guys in the future! I love you all. You are amazing and inspiring and you can do anything! I believe in you. I am here for you. We are truly in this together!

Last day :(

Today is the last day and all I have to say is that im very impressed with how the Tri Hita Karana festival went, its amazing how we left a legacy, from now on there will be  monthly tournament similar to what we organized. and the most amazing part is that its self sustainable!

And I want to say a special thanks to Scotty and Emily for being such good organizers and people.

A Bunch of Teenagers Left a Legacy and PLEDGE For The Future

12 days have passed… all the fun, experiences, sad and happy moments we have spent together unfortunately have to end here. However of course the memories and all the stuff we have learned and done will always be in our heart.

Each of everyone of us made a pledge to our self, to the world that we are going to go back in. After a successful evening yesterday, we green leaders have left a legacy to the community of Green School and Green Camp and the local community. They decided to do this football tournament and plastic waste collection once in every month. We have left a LEGACY! I feel old now 😛 lol not really. It proves that even though we are just a bunch of teenagers… we can make a change! and YOU DO TOO.

I PLEDGE… that I will with my whole heart continue this legacy (since I will still be around at Green School for another year) and I welcome everyone of you to join us in this happy occasion that we are planning to have every once a month.

I also PLEDGE… to start separating the organic waste and turned them into compost and give it to my baby plants at home. ^^ I bet they will be happy. Also, to make a creative piece out of the plastic waste that me and my family have collected for quiet a while now.

I PLEDGE… to continue writing songs and get my message across through my love into music and to raise awareness about the issues that I feel strong to stand up for. So… I hope you could wait for my songs and hopefully I would be able to record it and shows it to you all. ^^\

With this I want to say thanks to everyone in the Green Leaders that have been sharing all the love during this wonderful journey. This journey hasn’t over yet guys! Remember that we have each other’s back and I know we will meet each other again! ^^

Last day at green camp

Today is the last day at green camp. I’m going to miss it so much. The last 12 days were the most fun I have ever had in my 13 years of life. I’m going to miss everyone who came here because we became a family. We have had a lot of ups and downs to this journey. So many people have had to extend a hand to help the others.I Everyone here became like a family to me. No mater what happens we will be here and we will never grow apart. I met people from all around the world and now we have to go back to where we came from. The good thing is we will never forget these last 12 days, at least I wont. We have become one big happy family.

Continue…..

Last night,we finished our final festival. It was amazing! In several hours, all of us will go to our different homes.Maybe we won’t see each other frequently, but we will keep in touch with each other.

Last night,we made such crazy nasi-goreng and Pisano-goreng.We made and sold our food.We held such a wonderful fest!It will be a beautiful memory in our heart.

When we come back home,I will separate the garbage we made every day.I will tell our neibours that it is not for little money,it has something to do with each one of us.And after talk about it with others,I will start a program about recycling staffs in our neighborhood. It will change people’s mind.

Although we will leave Bali in several hours,we will continue our program. We will spread about the concept.

This is not the ending…

Even though we’re leaving the campsite doesn’t mean that the journey ends. Very soon we’re all going to be leaving the Green School, which means it won’t be the same back home. We won’t have our fun room, Indonesian food and each other.

When I leave Bali and go back to Hong Kong I’m going to try and do something. I’m going to go the supermarket which is near my house and talk to the manager about raising the prices of plastic bags, so more people would remember to bring their own bag with them. To do this I would talk to the manager at the supermarket as they are always around. Another thing that I would like to do is that in my building we would have an recycle bin downstairs in the car park inside of having three of the same bins. There is so much we could do but we can’t do everything but we shall try!

This is not the end…

In about couple hours, our Green Leaders will be back to our old world. No more fun room, no more Nasi goreng. we are all going back to the starting point. However, the theme of our journey will remain in heart, and I will still continue the Green Journey.

I will initiate a recycling project in January with Lilian in our apartment block. My plan is to advocate people to categorize their trash by showing them how it can turn into treasure. I will organize a sale on bin bags or bracelets made out of plastics in the apartment block; meanwhile, I will promote the idea of recycling and show the danger of wasting resources. Hopefully, after the sale, we can get as many people as we can to start recycling.

There is much to be done, and I wish I can make a difference even though it may just be fewer plastic bags or straws.
